Q: Where are your childcare centers located?

We have four locations in Albany's capital district, including Guilderland, Malta, Burnt Hills / Glenville, and Rotterdam / Schenectady. Click here for our New York childcare locations and directions.

Q: Is Maple Leaf a licensed child care facility?

Yes, all our child care centers are licensed and monitored by the New York State Office of Children & Family Services. Maple Leaf Childcare carefully follows and exceeds all regulations set forth by New York State. The name and telephone number of each center's licensor is posted at each site.

Q: Do the Maple Leaf Childcare facilities have secured entrances?

Yes, all childcare centers have a secured front door that stays locked at all times. Parents are given a code to enter.

Q: What is the educational level of the teachers?

Teachers meet or exceed all state requirements. While Head Teachers need a minimum of an Associates degree in Education or a CDA with experience, many hold a bachelors degree. Click here f or more information about our child care teachers.

Q: How are parents kept informed about their child's progress?

We take great care to communicate with parents on a daily basis at drop off and pick up times. Maple Leaf Childcare does two evaluations per year and offers a parent conference each time. Daily sheets are sent home each day with pertinent information from the day. Parents are welcome to schedule a teacher meeting any time they want to speak about their child, or any issue in their child's classroom.

Q: Can Maple Leaf administer medication?

Yes. Maple Leaf has met all of New York State's requirements in order to be able to administer medication. Staff attends specialized trainings each year and takes the MAT exam every three years to keep up to date. Parents must obey strict guidelines set by New York State.

Medications are only given if the proper forms are signed by parent and physician and given to us along with the medication in its original container, labeled with the child's full name. According to New York State regulations, all paperwork must be completely filled out and submitted before administering medication to any child.

Q: Are any family events scheduled throughout the year?

Yes, we have our annual Luau in May that includes a barbeque, Mr. Bounce, petting zoo, pony rides, cotton candy and friends. We also have classroom parties and events throughout the year that we invite parents and families to. For the current events calendar, click here.

Q: Do parents have to volunteer their time at the center?

No, but they may visit their child's classroom at any time. We have an open door policy for parents.

Q: What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday thru Friday from 7:00-6:00 at Rotterdam and Guilderland; and from 6:45-6:00 p.m. at our Malta and Glenville sites. Click here for directions to each childcare facility.

Q: What are the tuition fees?

Tuition at each center varies according to the age of the child being enrolled. Infants are enrolled on a full time basis only; part time enrollment begins at 18 months old. Contact your area childcare center to find out current tuition fees.

Q: What ages does Maple Leaf Childcare serve?

We serve children 6 weeks to 12 years old. Click here for more information about our childcare programs.

Q: What type of curriculum is followed at Maple Leaf?

Lesson Plans are written weekly by the teachers. Our childcare programs involves developmentally appropriate activities involving areas such as: sensory, math, reading, writing, science, and small and gross motor activities. Click here for more information about our childcare services.
