September 27, 2013

child-in-daycareIs your child nervous about starting here at Maple Leaf Child Care? Here are some tips to prepare your children for day care!

  • Plan a group playdate with other parents and children to get your child familiar with new faces.
  • Visit our daycare so your child will know what to expect on their first day.
  • Avoid making a new or big changes around the house. Too much all at once can be difficult on your child.
  • Pack your childs favorite object to take with them. This will let them feel more comfortable in new surroundings.
  • Tell your child when you will be coming back, when they will be going home, who will be takings care of them, etc.
  • Some parents like to sneak away when their child is having a good time, but it is important that your child gets a goodbye hug and kiss before you leave.
  • Try not to hover once you have said goodbye. A quick goodbye is the easiest way for your child. This also shows your child that you are confident with the care providers.
